What Is Secure Remote Access for Manufacturing?
It lets OEMs, machine builders, contractors and plant engineers maintain production systems remotely without opening the plant network. Each person reaches only the approved PLC, HMI or server, access is approved and time-limited, credentials are never shared, and every session is recorded for audits and incident investigation.

Why Manufacturers Need Controlled Remote Access
IT and OT are now connected, and production depends on people outside the plant. Every remote session reaches systems that keep the line running, so it needs to be approved, limited and recorded.
OEMs support machines remotely
Machine builders and integrators need to reach a specific PLC, HMI or line PC. VPNs and shared accounts give them far more access than the job needs.
Admins work across plants and group companies
Server and application administrators manage systems across sites and subsidiaries. Their accounts are a prime target for attackers.
Downtime is the real cost
One compromised remote session can stop a line or spread to other plants. Access has to be limited to the exact asset and watched while it happens.
How Safous Secures Remote Access to Your Plants
Safous connects a verified user to one approved system, not to your plant network.
Just-in-time vendor access
OEMs and contractors request access to a specific machine. You approve it, and access ends when the work is done.
Agentless, browser-based
Connect over RDP, SSH, VNC and web from a browser. Nothing is installed on PLCs, HMIs or SCADA systems, including at isolated sites.
Vaulted credentials
Passwords are injected into the session and never shown, so contractors never share or keep admin accounts.
Every session recorded
Watch sessions live, end them if needed, and keep recordings for audits and incident investigation.
Credentials, logs and recordings stay in your own network on the Safous AppGateway. See OT secure remote access →

Customer Stories
How manufacturers secure administrator, OT and vendor access with Safous.
Toray Industries
Challenge: Administrator access to servers across a distributed group network was exposed to repeated break-in attempts.
Result: Administrator logins now go through Safous, with zero unauthorized admin logins.
Global food manufacturer
Challenge: OEMs and contractors needed seven logins to reach one machine over VPN.
Result: One browser-based portal for employees, contractors and OEMs across 150 sites, rolled out in under 90 days.
Global automaker
Challenge: Across more than 10 production sites, IT remote access tools did not work with OT systems, and agents could not be installed on OT assets.
Result: Agentless, fully audited OT access replaced the VPN and aligned IT security with plant operations.

Built for Industrial Security Standards
Safous gives you the access controls and evidence these frameworks ask for.
ISA/IEC 62443
User identification, least-privilege access and audit trails for remote access to industrial control systems.
NIST CSF
Access control, monitoring and logging for the Protect and Detect functions across IT and OT.
ISO/IEC 27001
Access and logging evidence for your ISMS audits. Safous itself is ISO/IEC 27001 and SOC 2 certified.

How do OEMs and machine builders get remote access with Safous?
Each OEM signs in to the Safous portal with MFA and reaches only the machine or system they support. Access can require approval, is limited in time, and every session is recorded. No VPN or shared account is needed.
Do we need to install agents on PLCs, HMIs or SCADA systems?
No. Safous is agentless. Users connect from a browser over RDP, SSH, VNC or web, so nothing is installed on OT equipment.
Can Safous be used at isolated or air-gapped plants?
Yes. Safous supports isolated and air-gapped sites. We can help you choose the right deployment for your plant network.
Does Safous help with ISA/IEC 62443?
Safous supports ISA/IEC 62443 requirements for remote access, including user identification, least-privilege access and session audit trails. It is one part of a 62443 program, not a certification on its own.
How long does it take to roll out across multiple plants?
Most teams are up and running the same day, and you can add plants one at a time from the same portal.
